Depth therapy for stepparents, blended families, couples, and individuals ready to build a life they can stand on.
An honest, unhurried place to understand what’s happening and why.
Healing House Therapy Oregon offers stepparent therapy in Oregon, alongside depth-oriented work for blended families, couples, and individuals navigating attachment, identity, and what’s happening underneath the daily struggle.
You might be here because…
You’re a stepparent who loves your partner but feels like an outsider in your own house and can’t quite say it out loud.
You’re carrying a weight of grief or sadness with no obvious place to bring it.
You and your partner are trying to hold your relationship steady
The same conflict keeps happening in your family/couple system, and the usual advice (“just communicate better”) isn’t reaching what’s actually wrong.
You want to understand yourself more deeply—what drives your thoughts, behaviors, and actions; what you keep protecting; and what you’re capable of when you stop forcing change.
Whatever your starting point, this work begins by not only embracing what you are holding but also doing so with increased self-compassion.
My approach
I work from a depth-oriented attachment lens, helping people understand the internal blueprint that shapes how they live, love, fight, and protect themselves. The work isn’t about fixing or forcing anything; it’s about understanding what’s living in your unconscious and driving your actions and choices, so change can happen organically and on its own terms.
Together we will begin to call to the surface and pay attention to the following:
emotional regulation and nervous system responses
blueprints: internal working models and core beliefs
relational patterns that repeat despite insight
the connection between inner experience and outward relationships
This work supports greater regulation, clearer connection, and the capacity for closeness, both with yourself and with others.

What makes this work different
Therapy can often center around giving you tools and techniques to manage what’s hard. The work done here is about attending to what’s actually driving the hard parts—the patterns, the protective parts, and the older blueprints running beneath—so that change happens organically, not from forcing it. Here it is about being present for the hurt parts and listening to yourself and/or your significant other in a way that opens you up to a deeper, more aligned life experience that unfolds without pressure. Because of that, depth therapy is slower than tool-based therapy. It’s also more lasting.
Therapy with me is not about quick fixes or making everything feel better overnight. It’s about understanding what’s happening unconsciously. Together, we make sense of the patterns, emotions, and protective strategies that have been shaping your inner life and relationships, so you can move forward with greater steadiness and self-trust.

Extended Sessions might be a fit for you…
Sometimes weekly therapy isn’t the right container. When things feel complex, urgent, or emotionally charged, a more concentrated format can create momentum and clarity.
Extended sessions are 2-3 hour focused sessions designed to support deeper work over a shorter period of time. This format allows us to step outside the rhythm of weekly therapy and focus intentionally on what feels most pressing, unresolved, or difficult to shift.

About Me
I’m Esther, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Oregon and the founder of Healing House. My work is shaped by years of training in attachment-based therapy, my own ongoing experience inside a blended family, and a stubborn belief that most people don’t need more tools; they need someone to help them understand what’s actually happening unconcsicously, underneath their reactions.
When that understanding lands, change starts to happen on its own. I’m also writing a workbook for people who want this kind of self-understanding but aren’t in therapy or aren’t ready for it yet.
